The luxurious fashion brand Xandres launched a sustainable sneaker with the Belgian sneaker brand Komrads. The Sustainability Manager of Xandres, Jasmien Wynants and one of the founders of Komrads, Greet Goegebuer are both very much engaged in sustainability. Both brands joined together to produce a limited edition vegan, ecological sneaker made out of 100% recycled materials.
From the moment the founder of Xandres read an article about Komrads where the phrase “Done is better than perfect” was used, Jasmien was convinced that this would be the collaboration Xandres needed. She says that she is aware that her business isn’t sustainable yet but that she wants to change and work towards becoming fully sustainable. That’s why “Done is better than perfect” is a perfect first step towards a less polluting shoe industry and a better world.
Taking inspiration from the existing APLS collection by Komrads, they made an iconic shoe with an urban look made out of recycled apple leather.
With a new bright green color and a new logo, the modern design of the trainer gives both an elegant dress and casual jeans extra spice.
Even though the shoe is made out of vegan leather, recycled cotton and recycled rubber, they’re very comfortable, qualitative, contemporary and made to last.
The new shoes are available from the 9th of September in the Xandres stores in Ghent, Antwerp, Knokke, Nieuwpoort and in their webshop. Only 100 pairs were made. So you better hurry!
