8th June is World Ocean Day, a day we celebrate the oceans, but also a moment of reflection and confrontation on how disrespectful we are treating the oceans.
As a Truly Sustainable Sneaker brand, Komrads is very concerned about the increasing stress our oceans are under and thus a big supporter of World Oceans Day. The main reason of the stress situation is pollution. It’s dumped, pumped, spilled, leaked and even washed out with our laundry. Each year, we expose the world’s waterways to an increasing variety of pollutants — plastic debris, chemical runoff, crude oil and more.
Fortunately, it’s not too late to clean up our act. Conservation.org shared the dirty truth about ocean pollution:
By using Seaqual's recycled ocean plastics in the manufacturing of our sneakers, Komrads aims to contribute to reducing plastic pollution in the ocean and promoting a more sustainable fashion industry. This initiative not only raises awareness about the environmental impact of plastic waste but also provides a practical example of how recycled materials can be incorporated into everyday products.
Such collaborations between help to address the pressing issue of plastic pollution in our oceans, promoting the circular economy and inspiring consumers to make more environmentally conscious choices.
